Products

All of our turf products are manufactured by Mirage Putting Greens International, Inc. and Mirage's Lazy Lawn International, Inc.  We have seen every product out there and feel that the Mirage products are second to none when it comes to quality, aesthetics, playability, and durability.  We use Mirage products exclusively and have done so since we founded our company in 1998.  Additionally, Mirage has addressed the concern about lead traces found in some of the synthetic turf products available on the market.  All Lazy Lawn grass products are ENTIRELY ORGANIC and contain no traces of lead or any other metals!  This is the world's first and only all organic artificial turf!

To date, most synthetic backyard putting green surfaces are still utilizing an approximately 30+ year old technology that requires several inches and layers of silica sand fill to make the artificial grass fibers stand up as well as create a level and smooth putting surface.  This will cause the putting surface to become very fast over time as the sand layers eventually settle and compact. These putting surfaces also require periodic broom sweeping as well as water-rolling to keep the sand level.

Another characteristic of deep sand filled turf surfaces is that they have a grain pattern that runs one way throughout the carpet.  This can cause the ball to skip or hop when putting against the grain. These sand-filled greens also need periodic re-sanding as the sand settles.  Lastly, the addition of an expensive, colored top dressing or crumb rubber is necessary to keep the surface from looking white-washed due to the amount of sand fill.

With this technology, to create a ball speed that is required of Tour Greens, you need to fill the turf fibers with sand approximately 1/8" from the tip of the fibers.  The surface is then rolled, which bends the tips of the turf fibers over, creating the bent grass green effect.  The disadvantage to this is that how well the ball rolls is entirely dependent on how level the sand is and how well and how often the turf fibers are rolled.

GOLF COURSE PUTTING TURF

Now, with the new Mirage Tour Putt ™Turf System, there is no need for deep sand in-fill or top dressing. Our Mirage turf is designed "off the shelf" to putt just like a Tour Green.  Tour Putt turf fibers are constructed of a dual color, monofilament nylon.  Monofilaments have a memory built into the fiber as they are created one fiber at a time by use of an extraction device.  They are stretched and heat treated which texturizes them and makes them extremely resilient.  Deep sand filled greens are typically constructed with a turf that is made of polypropylene fibers.  These fibers are called "split-film" fibers and they are not constructed one fiber at a time.  The polypropylene starts off as a sheet of material and then the fibers are cut from this sheet.  Due to this manufacturing process the fibers do not have a memory and thus they are not nearly as resilient as a monofiliment nylon fiber.

The Mirage Tour-Putt™ surface has stimp speeds comparable to most PGA Greens without having to in-fill the turf with 6-8 pounds per square foot of silica sand.  We put only enough sand into the turf to act as a ballast, approximately 2 pounds per square foot.  This gives the surface enough weight to hold it in place over our compacted aggregate sub-base.  Due to the density of our turf you never have to re-sand the green.

The Mirage turf fibers have been manufactured to stand up naturally due to the texturization process and the turf has a very minute grain similar to real bent grass greens.  This characteristic allows the ball to roll true even when putting into the grain.  The tips of the fibers have been pre-bent in the manufacturing process.  This means that you never have to roll the turf.

Need proof in person?  Give us a call and we will bring a sample of our putting green surface to you so you can see for yourself!  Once you have putted on our Mirage Tour Putt Turf you will be convinced that the Mirage Tour Putt Turf System is the most realistic, virtually maintenance-free synthetic putting green surface in the world today!

BERMUDA GRASS AND FRINGE TURF

Our Bermuda Fringe is a dual fiber, 1 1/2' pile height material constructed of poylyethlylene and polypropylene.  This turf doubles as a Bermuda grass for those customers who are installing it as a sod grass in their yards.  There is a shorter, texturized polypropylene fiber at the roots of the longer polyethylene fibers.  These stiffer, shorter fibers help to support the longer polyethylene fibers.  The advantage to this is that the turf does not require a significant sand fill process to support the longer fibers and keep them standing upright.  As in our putting turf, we only need to in-fill the turf with enough sand such that it acts as a ballast to weigh the turf down and help keep it in place.  As well, we do not have to in-fill the turf with an additional crumb rubber.  This is a process that most of our competitors have to apply as their turf is much less dense. The crumb rubber is required to support the turf fibers.  Additionally, the application of crumb rubber can create a distinct "tire factory" smell, particularly when it gets hot.  Most people do not want their yard smelling like a tire factory!

ULTRA SOD RYE AND RUFF TURF

Can you see the piece of Ultra Sod set into the natural sod in the picture?  If you can't you're not alone!  Our Ultra Sod is the newest and most exciting technology to come to the turf industry in years!  It's been on the market now for about a year and it's our number one selling turf grass product!  It also doubles as a ruff for our putting green customers.  This product is so realistic that it is nearly impossible to tell it's not real!  It has been created to simulate a Rye grass and it has been constructed with three different types of fibers as well as two shades of color.  As in our Bermuda grass, the Ultra Sod also has a shorter, texturized polypropylene fiber at the roots of two different polyethylene fibers.  One of the polyethylene fibers is a fatter, slit-film fiber and the other is a thinner, monofilament fiber.  The split-film fiber is a darker shade of green and the monofilament fiber is a lighter shade of green.  The effect that this creates is one of imperfection and makes the turf look extremely realistic!  Real sod is not perfect and each grass blade is not the exact same color or size.  Have you ever seen a lawn where every blade of grass was the exact same size and color?  Of course not!  This is the one draw back of most other synthetic grass products.  What makes them look fake is the fact that they look too perfect.  Ultra Sod is the only alternative turf grass of it's kind and the most realistic in the world!
